I have to say that what I’m sharing today is something I’ve been thinking about for quite a while. As we were packing up our things to move last fall, I found a little puppet in one of the boxes. It was a ballerina bear that my mom had helped me make in either 1st or 2nd grade. She had so many cute ideas for it and I may be biased but I thought it was more creative than some of the other ones. I got to thinking how fun would it be to make some more of them but I wasn’t sure where to start.
And then, of course, months go by and I have other projects I need to finish first. When I finally figured out that I wanted to do something with The Avengers, the next movie release gave me a little push to get them finished. Plus it helps to have just finished my little puppet theater and needing something to use in it!
This is a project that is super cheap and pretty simple, probably because I didn’t attempt to sew all of the tiny pieces.
- Craft Glue
- Puffy Paint
After cutting out all of the pieces, I applied a thin layer of glue to the edges of each of the pieces and then applied them where they are in the pictures below. I used black and green puffy paint to add a little more character to the puppets.
I think the most time consuming part was trying to figure out what they should look like, especially since I wanted to keep the bear shape. But I took the time to put it together so you don’t have to! Now it’s super easy for me because I can print and then cut everything out from there!
I think the hardest one for me was The Hulk. It sounds kind of funny given that the pieces for him are a fraction of what the others are but I couldn’t figure out a good way to do his chest. So that was as good as I could get it.
The glue wasn’t dry when I was trying to take pictures but I put a line of glue at the top of the Iron Man mask instead of glueing it down completely. Underneath are the regular nose, eyes and small mouth on the others.
With Thor and Captain America, they have their weapons that you can either glue on or attach with velcro to take on and off.And there you go! For other Avengers ideas, check out the party I had with my nieces and nephews!
You can buy the pattern for all 4 superheroes here.
Who will you make these for?
