There are so many things that happen in our day that can trigger memories. Any of the boy band songs from the 90’s remind me of driving to a softball tournament with a bunch of other girls screaming the words at the top of our lungs. A certain breakfast pastry reminds me of a time I was sick and threw it up. A certain lotion takes me back to high school when it was cool to have a whole bottle of it stuffed in your backpack. And M&M’s® Crispy? They were one of the few good things from junior high (that’s just an awkward time anyway so anything good ends up shining through).
I remember that the cool thing at my junior high was to only eat from the candy machines for lunch because the cafeteria food “wasn’t good”. I usually ate in the cafeteria because I didn’t mind it but every once in a while I would get a snack for that one boring class that I dreaded going to everyday and it was usually the M&M’s® Crispy.
And guess what? They are back! Who knows how long they will be around but I’m going to enjoy them while we have them. A snack like this makes me want to hang out and watch a movie or something and what better way than to make a delicious chocolate malt!
I grew up with an ice cream eating family and we loved getting different kinds and trying them out. Mixins were always fun and so I thought I would take two of the things I loved most from that time and combine them!
To start, I put the ice cream and malt mix (comes in a small plastic container) in my blender. There is usually regular and chocolate. If you have the regular kind, you’ll need some chocolate syrup to get you that chocolatey goodness.
You can check out the candy section at your local Walmart! Mine were on the end of the aisle.
