This year I have been trying to make a couple of Thanksgiving decorations since we haven’t had any ever. It helps a little bit to have them though because it does remind me how much I have and all the fun. So that’s why I made this Simple Give Thanks Wreath for my front door (I go out and in through it so many times and it’s definitely a great reminder!)
- Grapevine Wreath
- Orange Burlap (1/4 yd)
- Brown Fabric (2 small pieces)
- Orange Tulle (Scrap)
- Yellow Fabric (scrap)
- Cream Fabric (1/4 yd)
- Brown Paint
- Foam Brush
I started out with the wreath and then cut the burlap in two long pieces to wrap around. The best way to cut it is to pull one strand out and then cut down the part that is open which will make it straight.
After wrapping and hot glueing the burlap to the wreath, I focused on the flower part. Folding the brown cloth every so often and then glueing gave it the ruffled look. I did that to both pieces and then sandwiched the orange tulle piece in between. I made a rosette with the yellow fabric and then glued it all together.
For the banner, I thought about doing tulle but didn’t feel like dealing with the strands coming out every way so I used some cream fabric that I had in my box. I cut out pennant pieces and then taking some stencils and paint, I painted the letters I wanted. From there I glued the top edges to wrap around the twine and then tied and glued it to the wreath to drape a little bit. With something to help hang it, it was done!
What reminders do you have around the house to be thankful?
