I don’t know about you but I’m a watermelon fan….especially when I choose a good one! It’s one of those foods that is actually not completely bad when I eat ginormous amounts.
I know that summer is almost over but I thought I’d share some of my fun watermelon decor that I finished a little bit ago.
This one for the door (I know, I know, I should probably mix it up with a wreath or something) is something that I decided to do based on a bunch I saw on Pinterest. Cowboy cut it out for me
These two cute little watermelon cutouts came from The Wood Connection and came as a kit which always makes life a little easier.
And here’s the kit…..
I started by painting all of the pieces (you can see the seeds and the red part to the side) and then used some scrapbook paper, measuring it and then using Mod Podge to put it together. Then I just used my hot glue gun to put the rest of it all together.
For the bigger one, I painted the front all red and then put painter’s tape in lines where I wanted to do the lighter red.
Just a little word of wisdom when using the tape: I washed out my foam brush and thought that most of the water was out but it wasn’t, making the paint a little more watery than normal. This caused the tape to bubble and the paint to bleed. It took some touching up but it could have been a lot easier.
